「Vanitas」とは16世紀から17世紀にかけてヨーロッパで描かれた「人生の空しさの寓意」を表す静物画のジャンルの一つです。豊かさなどを意味する様々な静物の中に、人間の死すべき定めの隠喩である頭蓋骨や、あるいは時計やパイプや腐ってゆく果物などを置き、観る者に対して虚栄のはかなさを喚起する意図をもっていました。ブランド独自のテクスチャーはそういった死や退廃性、またデザイナーの触れてきた文化の空気感を表し、スカル・ローズ・クロス・リリー等のモチーフが朽ちて往く様を美しく儚く表現しています。

シルバーと真鍮で作られたクロスのネックレスになります。ケルト十字のようなモチーフでクロスの後ろの円は荊の冠のようなデザインになっております。アンティークな雰囲気がとても印象的なアイテムになります。

The brand is inspired by “Vanitas”, which is a type of still life painting, symbolic of mortality, characteristic of Dutch painting of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.  Paintings executed in the Vanitas style were meant to remind viewers of the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death. Common vanitas symbols include skulls, which are a reminder of the certainty of death; rotten fruit (decay); bubbles (the brevity of life and suddenness of death); smoke, watches, and hourglasses, (the brevity of life); and musical instruments (brevity and the ephemeral nature of life).

Cross necklace made out of silver and brass. The motif reminds of keltic cross with crown of thorn in the back. Very unique and gives antique feeling.
